Asten Carman,
Guest Services Manager

Meet Asten, the Guest Services Manager at Recess Inn. Though she primarily works behind the scenes, guests may occasionally see her friendly face around the inn. Alongside her role here, Asten is also an Occupational Therapy Assistant for First Steps, where she works with children from birth to age three—a job she finds incredibly rewarding and flexible enough to balance her inn responsibilities.

Asten and her husband, Brandon, have been married for 20 years and are proud parents to three boys: Gavin, Garrett, and Grady. She’s also deeply involved in her local community as the founder of the New Cambria Community Betterment Committee, a small group of women dedicated to fostering community engagement and supporting individuals and organizations throughout New Cambria.

Having lived in the area her entire life, Asten treasures the simplicity, security, and connections of small-town life, where neighbors are always there to lend a hand and share a common love for the community. For Asten, this close-knit way of life is irreplaceable.

Asten's family has ties to the Recess Inn building as well. Her mom went to school in Ethel from grades 4 - 6, along with several aunts and uncles during various stages of elementary school. They remember the bus stopping halfway between Ethel and New Cambria, and the secondary and elementary students switching buses to continue to their respective schools (from 1968 - 1980, community elementary students went to Ethel and secondary students went to New Cambria).
